AUTOMIX R90/2 - R92/2

AUTOMIX R90/2

EPOXY COMPOUNDS FOR SELF-LEVELLING FLOORS

Highly fluid, solvent-free, self-levelling coloured epoxy compounds made of epoxy resins, mineral charges, stretching, dampening, antifoam and anti-sedimentary additives and modified amino hardening agents; it hardens at ambient temperature thanks to a slightly exothermic poly-addition reaction.

AUTOMIX R90/2 compound mainly differs from R92/2 thanks to increased fluidity which results in higher capacity to self-level: this makes it possible to create floors with reduced thickness and consequently cut down consumption (from 1.5 to 2.5 kg/m2).

AUTOMIX R92/2 compound is recommended where increased thickness (from 2 to 4 mm) is advised to correct small differences in level and, thanks to its contents in terms of mineral charges, where increased resistance to wear and tear is sought.

  • AUTOMIX R90/2 and R92/2 compounds feature excellent self-levelling capacity which makes it possible to achieve smooth, compact coatings which are extremely nice to look at.
  • Poly-addition reaction and lack of solvents prevent the release of secondary substances during the reaction: hardening takes place with no shrinkage.
  • Coatings achieved are the ideal solution in processing departments and in labs where ease of cleanliness, disinfection and sterilization are essential; they also have good resistance to collisions and wear and tear, good chemical resistance and are waterproof, resistant to steam, liquids and oils.
  • Their appearance can also be improved by adding coloured scales of nitrocellulose (coloured chips) layer upon layer.
  • To achieve a slightly anti-slippery surface it is possible to spread silicon carbide dust with suitable particle-size or fine glass beads on the non hardened self-levelling agent.

Preparation of the support
AUTOMIX R92/2 requires a flat surface with maximum difference in height not higher than ? 2 mm, non additive, detected with a 2m straightedge. Surfaces to be coated must be compact, clean, dry, crack, crumbly part and cement grout-free. Best adhesion is achieved when the support is abraded: the surface needs to be smoothened with diamond or shot-blasting wheels (00 grain). Remove any trace of dust and dirt using an aspirator.
Once the surface is dust-free and dry apply RESICOL 160 primer and, after 12 – 24 hours, shave with FONDO RASANTE 82/1 and apply quartz dust (200 g/m2).
On slab on grade floor and with no vapour barrier it is necessary to apply RESICOL 165 primer on the support and then RESIMALTA 231 with a consumption of at least 2 kg/m2 or alternatively RESICOL 118.

Preparation of the product
In self-levelling systems mixing operation is essential to achieve good results.
Mix component A beforehand; then pour component B into component A and blend at low speed for 3 – 5 minutes using drill with helix/spiral to reduce air inlet as much as possible; during this operation, carefully scrape also the bottom and the sides of the bucket.

Application
Pour the product on the surface to be coated and spread it evenly with a dented spatula; immediately after, slowly and repeatedly roll the coating with a bubble buster roller to remove trapped air.

Notes
In self-levelling compounds the colour tone may be slightly different from one production batch to another. Such difference cannot be eliminated, so please use packaged coming from the same production batch. If this is not possible, mix the last packages from the first batch with the first ones from the second batch to eliminate these differences.

Due to their reduced thickness, epoxy self-levelling agents cannot correct planarity and differences in levels, consequently the result is determined by the conditions of the floor foundation. The concrete support must be fully cured (at least 28 days) to apply AUTOMIX R90/2 and R92/2. The support must be dry with humidity not higher than 5%.
Three essential rules are valid for all bi-component systems: weigh well, carefully mix bottom and walls, observe times of use.

AUTOMIX R90/2 is available in 12.5 kg and 25 kg packages (A + B components).
AUTOMIX R92/2 is available in 11.5 kg and 23 kg packages (A + B components).

RAL codes shown in this table are reference colours and do not represent the exact colour shade of the coating. Orders for other colours on request shall be accepted only for amounts higher than 300 kg, with an extra charge. Packages must be kept vertically and sealed: the product remains unaltered for at least a year if kept in a dry and sheltered place at a temperature between 10 and 30 °C.
