Rebuilding beam heads

Rebuilding beam heads

The need to recover old wooden structures while keeping the same elements in order not to alter their original aspect has led companies and researchers from universities to study specific materials whose features are similar to those of existing materials but which also display greater reliability and duration. These materials must also be able to maintain the original aspect of the work when it is part of a structure of particular architectural value. The old techniques, which required complete replacement of degraded parts by injecting bolted and nailed pieces of wood to be fixed to the healthy part, are now rarely used. This is due to the flashy nature of the operation and to the fact it does not ensure structural continuity between the old and the new element. Degradation is the result of inflection and collapse of beams, water penetration, an attack of molds and insects and it often results in a loss of functionality of both the element and the whole structure.

Beam heads in floors are fitted into the walls: in time they are prone to decay due to insufficient insulation from damp and the proliferation of molds and fungus. The damage comes to light only by demolishing the masonry where the support is and if no corrective action is undertaken, the static solidity of the floor is undermined.

RESIMIX formula produces specific materials for the recovery and reinforcement of beams and wooden floors and to consolidate trusses. Our products and technology have been successfully used for years in a wide range of situation and always with the approval of the relevant authorities. If necessary RESIMIX can carry out consolidation and reinforcement operations on beams and wooden trusses with its own personnel.
