Waterproofing terraces

Waterproofing terraces

Waterproofing a surface means stopping it from absorbing water or other liquids. Water absorption and seepages are harmful because they involve deterioration of the structure, detachment of the coating on the other side of a wall or a slab, contamination of liquids in a tank (underground drinking water tanks) or contamination of the soil in case of purification tanks or tanks which may contain possible polluting agents.

Abrade the surface to improve adhesion of waterproofing agent, then apply a layer of RESIGUM and place a glass mesh above it. Apply another coat of RESIGUM and then proceed with tile glue and tiles.

In case of brick parapets, remove the skirting board which is one of the points where water seepage happens and remove the first 15 cm of plaster. Redo the plaster in good quality float-finished cement-sand so that it is well closed. Abrade the surface to improve adhesion of waterproofing agent, then proceed with glass mesh and two layers of RESIGUM as already seen with new terraces, tile glue and tiles.
