Earth retaining walls

Earth retaining wall waterproofing is an essential operation to be done to avoid seepage in cellars: bad implementation of this operation can generate seepage and damp problems which are difficult to solve because it is difficult to intervene. If it is possible to intervene from outdoors (building/structure with construction under way) the principle is to apply a product which is as waterproofing as possible in order to stop any water from the ground.

Resimix offers two solutions:

  • RESIFLEX 142 , a polyurea with workability times of 10 -15 minutes (which is a lot compared to traditional polyurea where they are in the range of a few seconds). It can be roller applied in two coats: application of quartz dust on the first coat is recommended to aid setting of the second one.
  • RESITAR 30S is an epoxy resin with bitumen added which is much more resistant and long-lasting than traditional tar. It can be roller-applied.

In the event it is possible to intervene only from indoors, the coating must allow water to pass as vapor; in case its sealing effect is too strong, the counter-pressure could detach the coating thwarting all the work. RESISEAL is a cement coating which is successfully used as a salt barrier in dehumidification operations because it allows passage of water as vapor but does not allow passage of the salts inside preventing them from settling on the surface creating saline efflorescence. This technique is generally suitable to waterproof cellars, garages and basements.
