Crack injections

Crack injections

The injection of a structural adhesive in a crack restores continuity to the cracked material with the target of completely recovering the initial mechanical properties. This operation has the advantage of not altering the static balance of the construction: it does not require any change of shape and inertia and the structure regains its original effectiveness.

The success of epoxy adhesives for this type of operations comes from the following features:

  • Excellent adhesion on concrete, stone and brickwork;
  • No shrinkage;
  • The property of spreading in the thinnest cracks and interstices to ensure high gluing surface;
  • High mechanical features.

Here you can find how to inject an epoxy resin:

  1. Clean the crack with compressed air or a vacuum-cleaner with surface brush.
  2. Carry out injection holes and fix nipples with RESICOL 100 epoxy stucco. The holes don’t need to be necessarily on the crack: they may be done on the side provided they are inclined in order to reach the crack.
  3. Stucco the crack with RESICOL 100.
  4. Inject RESISYSTEM 310 or REPIKIT 310 in case of cracks up to 1 mm wide. RESISYSTEM 312 or REPIKIT 312 for wider cracks. Proceed from bottom to top, when the resin starts filling the top tube.
  5. When the resin is hardened, remove the stucco with a flexible pipe and the nipples with a little hammer.

Consumption:

Seeing as we cannot see inside the crack, we cannot assess possible cavities or other cracks which spread from the crack. Therefore consumption cannot be estimated. Please refer to the specific gravity which for REPIKIT 310 and RESISYSTEM 310 is of 1.05 kg/dm3, whereas for REPIKIT 312 and RESISYSTEM 312 it is of 1.2 kg/dm3.
